What Clients Can Expect

The First Session

It is very normal to feel uncomfortable about talking to a new person about personal things. At Insight Psychology Group, we take a relaxed and supportive approach to put people at ease. In the first session, your therapist will conduct a thorough assessment of your current life situation, difficulties and any related factors and history. This is important to enable us to help you in the most effective and efficient way. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your situation or the process of therapy.

Length of Therapy

Although most people feel the benefits of treatment after a few sessions, the number of sessions required depends on several factors. Generally for more straightforward issues, people require short-term therapy consisting of between 6-12 sessions. More complex issues may require longer treatment.

After the assessment, we will be able to advise you as to the number and frequency of sessions we recommend. Our treatment plans are flexible to fit in with your schedule and financial situation. To help you get the most out of your appointments, we will periodically review the progress of your therapy, with reference to your goals. In general, the frequency of sessions normally decreases over the course of treatment.
